LETTER FROM DONI & NORMA SALAZAR
March, 2009
Beloved brethren:
Here we are in this new year with a cool weather, mountain rains which are not very common in the month of February, but we are enjoying the life that God has given us and the
beautiful sunsets that we can see from our house.
Our grandchildren already started school, Dony is in the fifth grade; Eduardo and Gianni in the third grade; and Adrian in kinder; only little Andres is with us who will soon be two
years old and he speaks well including some English words. Dony will be eleven on March 23, and he has become a gentle and sweet boy and very serious in the matters
concerning the Lord’s work.
In the camp that was held at the end of December for the first time we didn’t have youngsters from abroad (Nicaragua and Panama), reflecting in this way the economic crisis that
is already being felt in Central America. However, we had an attendance similar to the ones in the years before, more children and ten young people who were present for the
first time and one of them, Juan, accepted the Lord as his personal Saviour with Doni and his counselor Esteban and he is right now faithfully attending the church in El Roble,
Puntarenas. Please pray for him, since his non-Christian parents have just divorced and this has affected him very much. Also two young girls were baptized, Sharon and
Yeimy, and this touched the hearts of other youngsters making them think seriously about living for the Lord. Other young boys and girls made a decision to walk with Christ,
among them Kenneth who was away from the Lord taking drugs, but now He got back to the paths of God and walks in them with the rest of our young people.
The church sent Militza and Jairo, Danny and Karol, Manuel and Darla to the zero zone to take food to the homeless of the earthquake of January 8. Our daughter Norma Lea is
going to the zero zone as a voluntary to give her services as a doctor. The last Saturday of February our Adults’ group took school supplies to street boys and girls who are
taken care of by a Social Attention Center. .
We already applied for the use of water in the church land and we are waiting for an answer from the county municipality; then we will make an application for the use of land so
we can get the building permit. There are very strict laws in Costa Rica for building a church and all of these procedures take a lot of time. Our church is making big efforts by
giving to this project and we have been encouraged by a small church at Liberty, Oklahoma, who sent us an offering of $1,000 this past December.
In February we started the prayer groups by zone, and from there on every third Thursday of the month. All the members in the three zones enthusiastically responded to pray
for the projects of the church and the salvation of those to whom we witness. The other project is the Pastoral Afternoon the first Sunday of every month starting in March. The
idea is for the young people to bring friends and after they play have a talk with a challenge to follow Jesus and an invitation to those who don’t know Jesus to invite Him to be
their Saviour. We will get together at our house.
Please pray for:
1. Juan and Kenneth for their spiritual growth and victory in their lives.
2. The applications we are making for the construction, that they will be approved soon.
3. Enough resources for the construction.
4. Sharon and Yeimy, that they be faithful to the Lord.
5. The youth ministry.
6. The pastoral family (our family) that they be strengthen in the Lord and for
their ministries.
We give thanks to the Lord of the Harvest for counting with you in this precious
ministry. God bless each one of you.
In His Name,
Doni and Norma Salazar
